This workshop examines the concept of culturally responsive teaching (as outlined by scholars Geneva Gay and Gloria Ladson-Billings), as a response to the crisis facing students of color in the classroom. Participants will explore common barriers that exist between many schools and students of color and will be introduced to practical ways to reduce these barriers through a culturally responsive approach.
