This workshop will explore 1) the concept of cultural barriers, 2) how cultural barriers can block communication between families of color and the schools they attend, and 3) how they can impede student development. Through the use of media, current research, and group discussion, families will be introduced to practical strategies for minimizing these barriers and empowering their students.
